Doug is currently the Director of SAP (Stabilization) within the Medical segment of Cardinal Health. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Doug worked in a variety of middle management, senior management and individual contributor positions at companies including Elmer's Products, Inc., Hexion Speciality Chemicals and The Borden Company.At Cardinal Health, Doug is responsible for the Planning and Building areas of SAP as well as for the Stabilization Program within the Medical Segment. At Hexion, Doug was managing Merger and Integration projects directly related to the entire Information Technology departments of purchased companies. Prior to this role, Doug leveraged his many years of I/T, Supply Chain and SAP experience in leading Global Sales, Distribution and Transportation I/T systems, initiatives and related processes around the globe. He was also accountable for integrating SAP and Non-SAP ERP Systems into a Single Global Instance of SAP and working directly with business stakeholders in leveraging Technology to achieve significant business synergies and competitive advantages.
While at Elmer's, Doug served in several leadership roles including Director of Information Technology, Director of E/Commerce & Customer Service, and MIS Manager.
As Director of Information Technology, Doug reported to the CFO and provided company-wide direction and leadership for all aspects of Information Technology, including SAP ERP Strategy & business alignment, company-wide E/Commerce, staffing, budgets, Business Services Team, barcoding strategy & compliance, project management, process improvement, software design, development & deployment, vendor & contract management, data warehousing, messaging, collaboration tools, helpdesk, networks, desktops, & data centers.
In this role, Doug directed the Global I/T and E/Commerce Teams, created a new I/T organization to support a $160mm merger, implemented SAP and other technologies to support the new merger, directed I/T related business integration projects, contributing $2.5mm savings, and provided leadership on several steering committees such including Business Integration, One Face To The Customer, and RFID projects.
As Director of Global Customer Service & E/Commerce, Doug reported to the CFO and directed Company-Wide Global Service to Customer initiatives, customer relationship management, deductions, Global Customer Strategy & Service, corporate barcoding strategy & compliance, company-wide service measures & analysis processes, supply chain process improvement, and company-wide E/Commerce Strategy and Service.
In this role, Doug created an exceptional global customer service team, led significant improvements in On-Time and Case-Fill initiatives, and implemented a customer compliance strategy that resulted in significant supply chain efficiency and improved relationships with major retailers (i.e. Wal-Mart, Target, Ace, Lowes and Michaels). During this time, Doug also increased E/Commerce utilization from 65% to 86%, lowered order processing cost by 35%, implemented a complete UCCnet / ECCnet strategy that lowered costs and improved customer relationships, and provided leadership in the successful acquisition & integration of an $85mm adhesives company. During this time, Doug also implemented several customer compliance initiatives that lowered customer compliance deductions by 40% and pricing deductions by over 60%.
As MIS Manager, Doug reported to the CFO and provided company-wide management for all aspects of Information Technology, including software design, development and deployment, Project Management, ERP Selection and implementation (SAP), E/Commerce strategy and delivery, company-wide Barcoding strategy, staffing, vendors and contracts, policies & procedures, and data centers.
In this role, Doug also co-managed the entire SAP implementation, which was on-time, on-budget and delivered with more functionality than originally scoped. Post implementation, Doug was responsible for bringing a higher degree of utilization of SAP and related processes within Elmer's.
While at The Borden Company (Chemical Division), Doug reported to the Group Project Manager and designed, developed, implemented, trained and supported manufacturing oriented software systems, including bill of materials, laboratory systems, inventory control, scrap control, production scheduling & reporting, shipping and receiving, product costing, and related documentation.
In this role, Doug also spent several years in Europe performing this role at Borden manufacturing plants in France and England.
Doug is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, earning his Bachelors degree in Information Technology. Doug graduated top in his class with a 3.92 GPA (Summa Cum Laude). Prior to UoP, Doug received a degree from Coleman College, San Diego California, in Information Technology.
Doug is a member of The Association for Operations Management (APICS) (2001 – Present) and The Project Management Institute (PMI) (2003 – Present). While at Elmer's, Doug served on the American Hardware Manufacturer’s Association's (AHMA) HTF Planning & Education Committee (2003 – 2004). In his role at the AHMA, Doug worked with Hardware Industry leaders in developing and providing education to advance the progressive use of technology between suppliers and customers.
In his spare time, Doug enjoys spending time with his family, marathon running, community service, and vintage Volkswagen buses.
